TOTTENHAM have poached Stockport County’s key starlet-spotter.

Ryan Grocott has left his position as County’s head of academy recruitment in to make the move down to N17.

He has been offered the role of North-West regional scout in Spurs’ academy.

‘s hierarchy have made boosting their academy a major priority.

In May’s end-of-season letter to fans from chairman Peter Charrington, the supremo outlined a number of goals the club wanted to achieve going forward after securing survival by the skin of their teeth.

Within those ambitions, Charrington vowed: “We will increase investment in the academy to ensure that the pathway from youth football to the first team is one of the strongest in the country.”

captain is the biggest success story for Spurs’ academy in the Premier League era.

The superstar was developed by Spurs – after being released by arch-rivals as an eight-year-old – and went on to become the North Londoners’ record scorer with 280 goals.

The two most exciting talents to come out of the academy recently are winger and striker Will Lankshear.

Moore, 18, had a super spell on loan at last term while close pal Lankshear, 21, impressed during his temporary spell with Oxford.

It remains to be seen whether will look to keep the pair in and around the first team or loan them out again.

With two years left on Lankshear’s deal, there is a chance he is sold and there is plenty of interest in the burly centre-forward.
