But are keen for Vuskovic to stay for the long term and are prepared to significantly boost his wages to keep him.

SunSport understands Spurs director of football Johan Lange travelled over to Hamburg recently to speak with Vuskovic about his future in North London.

The defender is believed to be on relatively low wages having joined in the summer of 2025 on a five-year contract.

Should he agree fresh terms, it would put him in line with other first-term players.

Vuskovic’s £12million transfer from Hajduk Split was agreed in 2023 but due to Brexit rules he could not move until the window after he turned 18.

He has gained plenty of plaudits for his loan to Hamburg, leaving World Cup winner Lothar Matthaus waxing lyrical after scoring against Bayern in January.

Germany legend Matthaus said back then: “At the age of 18, he plays as if he had already played three World Cups!”

One of Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven are expected to leave Spurs this summer, while fellow centre-back Radu Dragusin could be sold.

That would free up a pathway for Vuskovic.

Spurs are understood to have freebie deals lined up for defenders and , of Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively, if they stay up.

They are also interested in and Brighton stopper Bart Verbruggen, with No1 Guglielmo Vicario expected to leave for Inter Milan.
