Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State Chapter, along with the Coalition of Indigenous Youth Bodies of Plateau State, has called for an end to the ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

During a press conference held in Jos, Dachomo remarked, “These relentless and ongoing killings follow a historical pattern of violence that dates back to the marginalization of pre-colonial times, which has significantly intensified in recent decades.”

He pointed out the rise of small arms, the spread of extremist ideologies, and the creation of a traumatized and displaced population as serious threats to regional stability in West Africa.

The conference put forth urgent recommendations, which include: “Immediate international intervention to safeguard vulnerable communities.

“Official acknowledgment of the genocide by both the Nigerian government and the international community.

“Security reforms, such as decentralizing policing, establishing community-based security, and ensuring justice and accountability through the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators and the return of occupied lands.”

Dachomo stressed, “We do not seek revenge. We seek only justice. We seek dignity. We seek the right to live in peace.”

He implored the global community to recognize the genocide, protect the innocent, and advocate for justice.

The conference advocated for constitutional reform, the establishment of an international tribunal, and the deployment of an international civilian protection force to safeguard vulnerable Christian communities.

“We reiterate that we do not desire revenge. We seek justice. We seek protection. We seek the right to exist, worship, and live peacefully on the land of our ancestors,” Dachomo stated.

The pressing question posed to the world was, “Will you stand by and watch this genocide unfold, or will you take action to stop it? The time for mere expressions of concern has passed. The time for action is now.”
