Good news for Tim Allen, and fans of Tim Allen: Tim Allen is alive.
As sometimes happens on social media, Allen became a trending topic on Twitter this week—which led to some users wondering whether the Last Man Standing star had unexpectedly died.
Allen, fortunately, took his moment in the social media spotlight in stride. “Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a beautiful day in Michigan only to find out I’m dead?!” he wrote on Thursday. “How did it happen? Can anyone tell me? I’m DYING to know.”
We can happily oblige: Dan Katz, a personality and podcast host for Barstool Sports known as Big Cat, tweeted a prompt on Thursday, asking his followers to identify a photo of Allen for the chance to receive a free digital code for the video game Madden NFL 21. The tweet, which received almost 2,000 retweets and more than 1,400 replies, quickly went viral, pushing Allen to trending status.
Allen, who rose to fame in the 1990s thanks to the sitcom Home Improvement and also voiced Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise, assumed another reason for going viral.
“Ok, I figured it out. Some nosey neighbor saw what I was having for lunch and ‘figured’ I was going to die,” Allen wrote alongside a photo that showed him holding a package of hot dogs. Cue the laugh track.
