In Mexico’s Tijuana border with the US, there were 138.2 homicides per 100,000 people in 2018, according to the independent organization “Consejo Ciudadano para la Seguridad Pública y la Justicia Penal” (Public Security and Criminal Justice Council).
The Mexican coastal town of Acapulco – in second place – had 110.5 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, the Venezuelan capital Caracas 99.9. For comparison: According to the German Federal Office of Statistics, 100 homicides (100 deaths) were recorded in Germany in 2015 (2015).

The ranking is based on official statistics, press data and statistical forecasts. It takes into account cities with more than 300,000 inhabitants that are not in a war zone. Mexico and Brazil are the most represented on the current list of the 50 most dangerous cities with 15 and 14 entries.

Also positive developments

In the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula, which came first in the list from 2011 to 2014, according to the report, the number of homicides fell by 75 percent in the past five years. Now she occupies only 33rd place.
