American breakfast differs from the European continental breakfast primarily in the range of hot dishes. These are usually very easy to prepare and can be served quickly. In the United States, this is also called “short order cooking”. In the Nalu Diner, all American breakfast components are served together on a plate – originally American, sweet, and hearty.

From San Francisco to Berlin

“I got the idea for the restaurant when I was still going to clubs and afterward always wished I could have dinner late at night. In America, you can have breakfast 24 hours a day, even at 4 or 5 in the morning. And there is a lot of filter coffee as you like. ” – Oliver Miller

The smorgasbord of personal things

The Nalu Diner is a living, constantly changing project. The pictures on the walls are works by artist friends and by Oliver Miller himself. In 2012, the American opened his restaurant in the east of Berlin, in Prenzlauer Berg – he also lives nearby. He likes the diversity of the district. In addition: the audience is international, which fits well in the Nalu Diner.

Big things instead of fat bread

The pancakes are certainly the most famous breakfast classic in the United States. In order for them to become thick – all American – the batter, which is based on buttermilk in the Nalu Diner, must be very viscous. Turn the dough as soon as it bubbles in the pan. Then the “pancake” becomes perfect.
