The Taraba State chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has initiated an industrial strike due to unmet demands.
The strike began at midnight on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The union communicated this decision in a notice dated November 14, which was distributed to all staff of the Taraba State House of Assembly. The memo referred to a previous communication, labeled PASAN/NS/ADM/01, issued on November 13.
In a statement co-signed by the chapter chairman, Hamidu Buba, and secretary, Timothy Enganya, PASAN announced that its members employed at the Taraba State House of Assembly would cease their services due to unresolved grievances with the state government.
As stated by the union, the strike is motivated by two primary issues: the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the legislative branch of government and the lack of execution of the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).
The union has instructed all assembly employees to refrain from attending work until further notice is provided by PASAN leadership.
In spite of the industrial action, PASAN emphasized its willingness to engage in discussions with the state government to resolve the ongoing issues.
The association also encouraged its members to remain united and dedicated to democratic values as negotiations progress.
