said they have become aware of information circulating online about a recent incident in and have urged the public to avoid speculation, adding that some of it was “incorrect”.

Cops say they are investigating if the incident was sexually motivated and are working to establish the circumstances.
A 25-year-man from has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains on police bail.
Police said in a statement: “We can confirm that an investigation is active and still ongoing into the assault of a woman aged in her 40s, which is believed to have taken place in the area of North Parade in Skegness on April 26.
“We are investigating whether this incident was sexually motivated in nature and officers are working hard to establish the exact circumstances involved.”
Detectives said they are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry since the incident was reported.
Officers added that media appeals were usually issued when there are gaps in information, but this was not necessary in this case due to the swift response by the police.
Police said they understood that rumours circulating online may have caused concern and acknowledge that people wanted answers but stressed that a suspect had already been arrested and an investigation was ongoing.
The force said it was important to avoid speculation online, particularly where information is incorrect.
Police added: “It is important to avoid speculation online, especially that which is rooted in incorrect information, as this can impact the integrity of an investigation and any future court proceedings.
“What’s shared online can unintentionally affect witnesses, victims, and the legal process.”
Cops said they would provide updates when it was appropriate to do so and added that all details that can be shared so far have been.
The police statement came ahead of a flash “peaceful” protest in Skegness today which was organised by Unite the Right UK under the slogan “We want answers”.
