Nigerian activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, recently visited Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara at Kuje Prison in Abuja.
Sowore announced his visit on his Facebook page, sharing photographs and explaining that he was accompanied by Barrister Hamza Nuhu Dantani.
He recalled that Sheikh Abduljabbar was sentenced to death in Kano during the tenure of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje after being accused of blasphemy, which Sowore described as a politically motivated charge.
The activist expressed his astonishment upon discovering how “individuals close to the cleric collaborated to ensure he ended up incarcerated.”
According to Sowore, they found the sheikh in good spirits.
“He shared with us that God is safeguarding him and that he will continue to uphold his teachings for the rest of his life.”
Sowore emphasized that no one deserves to face injustice, insisting that justice must be served for Abduljabbar and advocating for an end to what he termed the exploitation of religion by corrupt politicians.
