Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed his condolences to traders impacted by a fire outbreak at Singer Market in the early hours of Monday.
He assured them of government assistance to aid their recovery from the losses incurred.
Although the Governor was out of town during the incident, he dispatched his representative, Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry, and Cooperative, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, to visit the victims and extend his sympathies.
“The Governor personally called me to convey his condolences and instructed me to visit the traders on his behalf,” Commissioner Sagagi stated, as mentioned in a press release issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Nura Yusuf.
In light of the increasing number of fire incidents in markets throughout Kano, Governor Yusuf has also directed the Ministry to initiate a sensitization program aimed at educating traders and business owners about the advantages of Islamic Insurance as a means to reduce losses from fires and other unexpected events.
