And for many fashion fans, it’s also time to start thinking about the festive looks you’ll be wearing later in the year.

Style lovers have been racing to Sainsbury’s to pick up a buy that ticks the box for comfort and class in the run up to sparkle season.

Tu Clothing is the supermarket‘s in-house fashion label and regularly delights fashion fans with its stylish buys at bargain prices.

Their fluffy eyelash bling button cardigan is delighting shoppers – and it’s a great buy at just £24.

Available in sizes 6 to 24, the short-sleeved knit comes in cream and black.

Describing it on the website, Sainsbury’s bosses say: “Our fluffy eyelash knit cardigan has been designed with a crew neckline and short sleeves – finished with sparkling bow buttons.

“The perfect festive layer that feels playful but understated.

“Our new collection reinvents modern party wear with bold silhouettes, rich tones, and luxurious textures – designed to make every celebration unforgettable.”

The supermarket buy has already racked up five-star reviews on the website – with fashion fans insisting it’s as cosy as it is stylish.

One said: “I love this cardy, perfect for a night out.”

“It has a slight stretch so fits well, looks great and is super comfortable to wear.”

Meanwhile, a second gushed: “Bought for Christmas season but will wear all year round.

“True to size and a good length.”

And a third said: “Lovely cardigan – soft and fluffy.”

Another mentioned that it looks so expensive, for a supermarket purchase.

They said: “Such a pretty, well made cardy, great value for money.”

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
