Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, ahead of the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the global gathering scheduled for January 19 to 23, 2026.
A statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, said the Vice President flew into Switzerland from Conakry, Guinea, after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, on Saturday.
Upon arrival in Davos, Shettima was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; as well as officials of the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
Nigeria’s participation at the 2026 forum is being marked by the unveiling of Nigeria House Davos, the country’s first official sovereign pavilion at the prestigious global meeting. The facility, located on the Davos Promenade, was established by the Federal Government through a public-private partnership arrangement.
The pavilion is designed to serve as a focal point for ministerial-level engagements, investment discussions and cultural exchanges throughout the week-long forum.
At the WEF, the Vice President is expected to outline Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global policymakers and business leaders. He will also participate in high-level discussions on emerging technologies, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence, quantum computing and advances in biotechnology.
The Vice President is further scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with fellow world leaders, executives of multinational companies and heads of international development finance institutions, aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships.
