Thousands of residents in Ibadan, Oyo State, are currently demonstrating against the alleged plans by the state government to acquire additional land for the Ibadan circular road corridor.
The residents have obstructed several major roads in this historic city.
According to DAILY POST, the concept of the Ibadan circular road was initiated during the tenure of the current Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, when he served as the governor of the state.
It has been reported that Ladoja designated 150 meters for the construction of the road; however, the current governor, Seyi Makinde, intends to extend this measurement, which will impact more homes and community lands.

Our correspondent reports that the protesting residents, hailing from Ido, Lagelu, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Oluyole, and Egbeda, are urging the state government to adhere to the 150 meters already established by Ladoja.
A group of demonstrators currently on Iwo Road has blocked access in and out of the area, which is one of the primary roads in Ibadan.
This road blockage has resulted in significant traffic congestion in the vicinity.
Another group of protesters is positioned at the entrance of the Agodi government secretariat.
The residents are displaying a variety of placards.
