The Presidency has disclosed why former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun resigned from his position.
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the Egbetokun tendered his resignation due to personal matters demanding his full attention.
According to Onanuga, the former police chief cited family issues which demands undivided attention in his resignation letter tendered to the president.
He said: “The IGP resigned in a letter today, citing family issues which required his undivided attention.”
The report of Egbetokun’s resignation as IGP had filled the news space on Tuesday.
His resignation was said to have followed a meeting with the president at the presidential Villa where Tinubu directed him to resign.
