The research was commissioned by Naked Smoothies, a smoothie brand with protein-based variations.

Liz Ashdown, a spokesperson for the drinks company, said: “Most people are far more ambitious than they admit, often keeping their biggest goals and aspirations to themselves.

“Our research shows that fear of judgement and fear of failure continue to hold people back, even when the to achieve more is there.

“Adding an everyday, simple boost can help support you whilst you strive for more.”

It was also revealed 35 per cent have big personal but have not shared them with the people closest to them.

Despite dreaming big, 34 per cent admitted they didn’t want to take financial risk to pursue their goal, while 28 per cent said they were frightened of failure.

The research uncovered what truly fuels people behind closed doors, as 47 per cent said personal fulfilment was their biggest driver, followed by earning more money (37 per cent) and escaping the nine-to-five for good (17 per cent).

Others are driven by proving people wrong (11 per cent), craving recognition (five per cent) – while four per cent are most motivated by being more attractive to an existing or potential partner.

While 28 per cent said a net would help them the most when it came to pursuing their biggest ambition, followed by more confidence (17 per cent) and time (15 per cent).

In fact, 51 per cent of Gen Zs said they would worry people would laugh at them if an ambition they pursued didn’t work out, according to data from OnePoll.com.

This was also the case for 41 per cent of Millennials, 31 per cent of Generation X and 18 per cent of Boomers.

In total, 45 per cent consider themselves ambitious, while 15 per cent don’t see themselves as ambitious at all.

Liz Ashdown, from Naked Smoothies, added: “It’s interesting to see how younger people, particularly those actively striving towards personal and professional goals, are more likely to feel the pressure of judgement and fear of failure.

“Meanwhile, older generations tend to place greater value on balance and wellbeing alongside ambition.

“Having the energy, confidence and motivation to pursue them is what helps turn ambition into action.”
