Provide evidence of allegations against Akpabio, Yahaya Bello – Northern youths to Natasha

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has challenged the suspended Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to provide evidence of her sexual harassment and planned assassination claims against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

National President of NYCN, Isah Abubakar, challenged Natasha to provide evidence as she appears in court for her defamation trial.

Natasha is currently at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama following the commencement of her trial for allegedly defaming Akpabio and former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

The defamation charges were levelled against the senator by the Federal Government following a petition from Akpabio.

The Northern youths urged relevant security agencies to investigate the allegations by the suspended lawmaker.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Abubakar said: “It’s unacceptable for people to just wake up and start alleging like the issue of sexual harassment without coming out to give clear evidence. For the majority of us that are men, we know the implication.

“In the light of the sexual harassment allegation levelled against Akpabio, we respectfully called on Natasha Apokti-Uduaghan to substantiate her claim.

“It’s Imperative that we approach such serious accusations with unwavering commitment to truth and justice, while we acknowledge the extreme sensitivity of this issue.

“We must emphasize that the unsubstantiated claim can lead to irrelevant damage of reputation and perpetuate a circle of mistrust among our political groups.

“Senator Uduaghan has made statements during a political gathering on April 1, detailing alleged discussion to threat to her life involving Akpabio and others. The implication of this claim are profoundly serious to warrant thorough and expedite investigation by all relevant law enforcement agencies.

“We also call on Akpoti to provide the public with evidence that supports her allegation as she navigates her appearance in court.

“This transparency is vital as it will enable the court of public opinion to be fully informed and hold all parties accountable. The public has the right to know the truth behind this grave accusation.

“Whenever accusations are laid, it’s important that they should not just make them on the basis of hatred or to be in the good books of people. If allegations are made, proofs should be provided to back it up.

“If i say that Mr A wants to assassinate me, I should come with proof that is where my information comes from and this is the reliable evidence I have that this person wants to assassinate me.

“We should not just allege and make allegations that will indict people or dent the image of personalities.”;
