Laven Denty Jacob, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, has been freed after being kidnapped from his home in Jos.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Kwarpo Sylvanus, said the legislator has rejoined his family.
“He has been successfully released but we are yet to ascertain whether any ransom was given or paid. All we know is that he was released yesterday night,” Sylvanus said.
He added that the lawmaker was in good health when he returned.
Sylvanus urged residents to remain anf alert and report any suspicious movements in their neighborhoods.
He praised security agencies and citizens for their swift response and suggested that communities consider forming vigilante groups to boost local safety.
“We, the legislators, will continue to advocate for laws that will enhance the security architecture of the state,” he said.
The kidnapping comes just days after two other abductions in the same area — a corps member and a University of Jos student were taken only ten days earlier, raising fresh concerns about security in Plateau communities.
