The Plateau State Taskforce on Anti-Human Trafficking has executed a successful multi-location raid, resulting in several arrests and the rescue of vulnerable citizens.
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Philemon Daffi, stated while briefing journalists in Jos, the State Capital on Saturday, that the operation was a turning point in the battle against modern-day slavery.
“This victory was not a product of chance or mere luck. It was the culmination of rigorous learning and the strategic application of data,” Daffi said.
The Taskforce has evolved into a more formidable force, leveraging data-driven intelligence and tactical planning to outmaneuver traffickers.
Daffi emphasised that child prostitution is a grave violation of human rights and will no longer be tolerated.
“To the adults who patronise these children: you are not ‘customers’, but predators. You are the demand that fuels this evil trade, and you are as guilty as the traffickers themselves,” he warned.
He also warned that the taskforce has issued a standing directive of zero tolerance to human trafficking and child exploitation, saying that establishments found complicit will face severe consequences, including seizure and demolition of properties.
“We are sanitising Plateau State to ensure that only legitimate and lawful establishments thrive,” Daffi stated.
The Commissioner also condemned parental negligence, stating that parents who fail to protect their children will be held accountable.
“If you will not protect your children, the state will, and we will hold you accountable for your failure,” he said.
“The raid sends a clear message that perpetrators will be hunted and brought to justice.
“The hunters have become the hunted, and you have no place to hide in Plateau State,” Daffi warned.
