Perry Bamonte, the guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, has passed away at the age of 65.
The band's official website confirmed the heartbreaking news, stating that their “great friend and bandmate” had died “after a brief illness at home during Christmas.”

The tragic news was announced on December 26.
Described as “quiet, intense, intuitive, constant, and immensely creative,” Perry was remembered by his bandmates as “a warm-hearted and essential part of The Cure story.”
A fondly nicknamed Teddy, Perry joined the band in 1990 and performed with them until 2005, returning in 2022.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with all his family. He will be deeply missed,” the tribute continued.
Perry was born on September 3, 1960, and initially joined The Cure as part of their road crew in 1984 under the guidance of his brother, who was the tour manager.
He then became the guitar technician and personal assistant to frontman Robert Smith.
