The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with its prominent leaders and Concerned Stakeholders, has stated that the recent ruling by the Abuja Federal High Court has reinstated legal order within the former ruling party.
The leaders, who are loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have agreed to respect the court's decision.
Justice James Omotosho had prohibited the PDP from proceeding with its national convention that was scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In response, the stakeholders expressed that the judgment confirmed the supremacy of the PDP’s constitution.
In a communiqué released following yesterday’s meeting, the stakeholders committed to “adhere to the court's ruling in its entirety.”
“We commend and reaffirm our trust in the judiciary. As loyal and dedicated party leaders, we remain open to reconciliation, inclusion, and collective rebuilding efforts.
“We invite all genuine members of goodwill from across the nation to unite with us in restoring our great Party to its founding principles.
“We, the Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), convened in Abuja to assess the significant judgment delivered on October 31, 2025, by the Federal High Court, Abuja. This ruling reaffirms the supremacy of the Party’s Constitution and the rule of law. We express our deep gratitude for this judicial intervention, which restores order, legality, and confidence in the PDP as a law-abiding organization.
“We urge all faithful members and leaders to uphold truth, justice, and the rule of law—the core values that define our great Party and its commitment to Nigerians.”
The elders reiterated their steadfast commitment to the principles of fairness, justice, equity, and inclusivity, which are the “foundational pillars of our great Party. We commend the Judiciary for its courage in prioritizing truth over impunity.”
The elders also revealed that Justice Omotosho's ruling reaffirmed the superiority of the 1999 Constitution as amended, the electoral act, INEC electoral guidelines, and the PDP constitution, while clarifying the lawful roles and limits of party officials in managing its affairs.
“The judgment definitively affirmed that Chief Dan Osi Orbih is the authentic National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the PDP, declaring the alleged appointment of Chief Emmanuel Ogidi as null and void.
“By affirming the expulsion of Ali Odefa, the Court has reinstated integrity and discipline within the Party's administration, underscoring that individuals expelled from the Party have no standing to act or litigate on its behalf.
“The court further confirmed that all external communications to INEC must be jointly signed by the National Chairman and the National Secretary, while the National Secretary remains the primary signatory for all official correspondences of the Party.
“The court also stressed that no valid national convention of the party can occur until all required processes, as outlined by the 1999 Constitution as amended, the electoral act, INEC electoral guidelines, and the PDP constitution, are fully adhered to,” they stated.
