If you’re not excited about You season 3, you’re in the minority! You is one of the biggest and most popular shows on Netflix, and fans can’t wait to see the new season of the soapy thriller series.

There’s a lot of conflicting information about You season 3 circulating the web, so we just wanted to make a little one-stop-shop of sorts for everything you need to know about You season 3.

Below, we shared You season 3 rumors, theories, and some small spoilers for the new season, along with the You season 3 release date.

You season 3 rumors

We heard recently that You season 3 filming was winding down. That has been confirmed. Sera Gamble, the showrunner, tweeted that production had wrapped at the end of April.

That means the show is on to post-production, and that’s really good news for those hoping to see season 2.

The other rumors that have been confirmed lately mostly revolve around the cast. There are a bunch of new characters interacting with Joe and Love, played by Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti, in the new season.

We shared a list of the new cast for You season 3 below, via Variety:

  • Dylan Arnold
  • Scott Speedman
  • Scott Michael Foster
  • Tati Gabrielle
  • Jack Fisher
  • Shalita Grant
  • Trevor VanWinkle
  • Michaela McManus
  • Shannon Chan-Kent
  • Ben Mehl
  • Christopher O’Shea
  • Christopher Sean
  • Bryan Safi
  • Mackenzie Astin
  • Mauricio Lara
  • Ayelet Zurer

As you recall, there was a big reveal at the end of You season 2 when Joe’s eye turned to his neighbor, a mystery woman. I think most of the audience thought that mean You season 3 would focus on that relationship or situation. According to @YouNetflixUpdte on Twitter, this part of the story might not be the focus of the new season, but that has not been confirmed.

We’ll let you know more rumors about You season 3 when we find out!

You season 3 theories

We have virtually no idea what’s in store in You season 3. The series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ book series, but the show seems to be forging its own path through this story.

There are some really interesting theories about You season 3 out there. My favorite is that Ellie is going to make Forty’s movie about Joe and release it, which would then lead to his arrest. I saw that one via Insider. Remember, there are a lot of people who know about Joe’s destruction now, with Ellie, the real Will, Love, and others who we don’t know about out there.

If any of those people turn on Joe, he would be in real trouble.

I also love the theory, another one from Insider, that the real Will will return from wherever he is and reclaim his identity. We’ll just have to wait and see if that ever happens.

Nothing is as it seems in this world. There’s always the potential that any new character could be from Joe’s past and know his history.

You season 3 spoilers

We haven’t seen many You season 3 spoilers yet. I think the main thing that’s going to be given away is stuff about the cast, who is returning and who is not returning.

We know about all the new characters. We also know that some of the main cast are back for season 3, including Badgely, Pedretti, and Saffron Burrows, who plays Love’s mom. We still haven’t heard if Ellie, played by Jenna Ortega, will be back for the new season. That could be very interesting.

We have two seasons full of characters and cast members who could be back in flashbacks, memories, hallucinations, or in the current timeline. We’ll just have to wait and see who shows up.

Unfortunately, we also know that John Stamos, who played Dr. Nicky, will not return for You season 3, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Who is the neighbor in You season 3?

We also know who the neighbor is from the end of You season 2. According to Variety, the neighbor is Natalie, played by Michaela McManus.

We shared the description of the character below, via Variety:

Michaela McManus (The Village, Aquarius) plays Natalie, Joe’s next door neighbor and subject of his growing fascination. Married to a powerful man, Natalie is a professional and social success. But she sees through the shallow, Stepford-esque vibe that surrounds her, and beneath her wry exterior, she leads a secret life. One that Joe is willing to work hard to learn more about.

As mentioned above, this might not be as big as we thought it might be, but that’s just a rumor at this point.

You season 3 release date

You season 3 is officially coming to Netflix in 2021. Netflix confirmed as much in a recent letter to shareholders, and Ted Sarandos said You season 3 was coming in Q4 of this year.

That’s good news! We’ll see You season 3 between October to December 2021.

You season 3 wrapped production in April 2021. Usually, we have to wait at least six months until a new season of a Netflix show is released after production ends. So, if that’s the case for You season 3, we’ll see You season 3 on Netflix in late October or November 2021.

Both seasons of You have been added to Netflix after Christmas in December 2018 and 2019, so I still think it’s a possibility we could see Netflix release the season around the holidays. I’m not saying it will happen, but I don’t see why they would change up what was obviously a good thing.

I hope we see You season 3 in October 2021. I’m not expecting that to happen. I’m becoming much more conservative when predicting release dates of new shows because everything seems to be taking longer than usual.

So, I’m thinking it’s much more likely that we’ll see You season 3 on Netflix in November or December.

Stay tuned for the official release date announcement!
