The Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland is easily one of the most anticipated films scheduled to come out, and many fans are more than eager to know when the movie, based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, will be arriving on the streaming service Netflix.
The film will serve as a prequel to the games, and the Spider-Man actor will be playing a younger version of the property’s main character Drake. The narrative will reveal important details on how he became friends with Sully, who will be portrayedby Mark Wahlberg.
Also in the cast will be Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who fans will recognize from his work on the Zombieland films and Venom.
On April 8, 2020, Variety announced that Sony and Netflix had made a studio-to-streamer-deal that is worth roughly $1 billion. The streaming powerhouse now has exclusive US rights to stream Sony Pictures theatrical releases in the first pay-TV window that begins with their 2022 slate of flicks, which includes Uncharted.
When will Uncharted starring Tom Holland be available on Netflix?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the typical pay-one window for a film that follows a theatrical release and home entertainment window is around 18 months. This would mean that after Uncharted releases on February 18, 2022, it will then make its way to Netflix sometime in 2023.
Other exciting films that will also be a part of this endeavor include Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, Morbius, and Bullet Train. New Spider-Man and Venom films are also in the mix down the line after Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There be Carnage; those two titles release in 2021 and are not part of the pact.
It’s a great time to be one of the 204 million subscribers to Netflix, and Uncharted with Tom Holland will undoubtedly be a fine addition to an already impressive library when it makes its way to the service sometime in 2023.Next: 27 best Netflix movies to watch
