After watching the new season, fans want to know what’s going to happen in Shadow and Bone season 2, and we have some thoughts. Obviously, the series is based on The Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo, and so we at least have some idea where the story could go.
There are mild book spoilers for Siege and Storm, the second book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, and Six of Crows below. We’re not going to give too much away. We just want to help set the stage for fans.
I will warn you. Things will be different in Shadow and Bone than they were in the books. Clearly, there are areas where the show is straying, and I think those gaps will continue to grow in future seasons.
Where do Alina and Mal go in Shadow and Bone season 2?
In the books, Alina and Mal make it out of Ravka. They try to start a life together in Novyi Zem, and it works for a while. But, y’all saw the end of the first season, right?
The Darkling isn’t going to give up so easily, especially not with the one person who can save the country, Grisha, and end all wars in the wind.
Eventually, The Darkling and his peeps find Alina and Mal. That’s when things really get wild.
Like I said, I’m not here to spoil everything! You can go read the books if you want the full story. From here, I’m expecting that we’ll see the Siege and Storm take place. Perhaps, they’ll pull from Ruin and Rising, the third book of the series, depending on where things go, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
You’re in for a treat in Shadow and Bone season 2 with Alina and Mal’s story, though. There’s so much to love about the journey they’re on, especially with how much fans are loving these characters.
And, I mean, could they have found a better Alina than Jessie Mei Li? I honestly don’t think so. I can’t wait to see more from these two moving forward.
Will The Crows go to the Ice Court in Shadow and Bone season 2?
At the end of the first season, the Shadow and Bone creative team set up the series to transition into the story from Six of Crows. At least, that’s a lot of what it looks like to me.
After trying to capture Alina, Kaz, Jesper, and Inej will likely return to the Barrel, befriend Nina Zenik, who was on the ship with them, and then set out on their next big mission at the Ice Court in Fjerda after some time.
As you’ll recall from the finale, Nina even talks to them on the ship, and we hear that Kaz needs a Heartrender. It sets up perfectly.
The group is tasked with a heist of sorts in a very secure location, but there are others interested in the score, as well.
It will be really interesting to see how things move forward because the timeline is kind of different from the books. Will they somehow include Alina and Mal’s story in the adventures of the Crows? I don’t think so, but we’ll see!
That’s all you’ll get out of me! Go read the Shadow and Bone books and The Grishaverse books to find out exactly what happened in those stories.Next: Best Netflix shows coming in 2021
