All eyes are on when we’ll get the next season of The Witcher. If you were hoping The Witcher season 2 would come in May 2021, you’ll be disappointed.
Let’s start off with some good news. The Witcher season 2 production has finished. The show is currently going through post-production, which is something that will take some time. There is a lot of VFX needed for a show like this.
Fantasy shows take a lot of work in post-production. This is more than just changing the eye color of a character now and then. Many of the characters have some sort of ability that requires effects after filming.
That includes Yennifer, who disappeared and was presumed dead at the end of the first season. We know she’s coming back, but what sort of power will she possess when she does?
She isn’t alone. Ciri has abilities that she doesn’t understand, and we should see her start to control them during the second season.
When is The Witcher season 2 coming out?
More good news is Netflix confirms that The Witcher season 2 will arrive in 2021. It’s going to be the end of the year, though. December 2021 still stands out as a month, but it could arrive a month or two before that.
The bad news is that it means the season won’t arrive in May 2021.
Admittedly, Netflix is struggling a bit for fresh content right now. We knew this was going to happen. With the way Netflix shows film, the production shutdowns from March to the summer of 2020 meant that the start of this year was going to be heavily affected.
We will hopefully be coming to the end of this drought soon. At least there’s Shadow and Bone to tide us over for the time being. It’s going to speak to similar interests when it comes to the fantasy genre.
