Sex Education season 3 release date rumors: When is season 3 coming out?

Fans of the British dramedy Sex Education have been counting the days since the last installment hit Netflix, and though it’s been over a year since the second season premiered, we at least have some good news regarding the upcoming third season. As we’ve previously reported, Sex Education season 3 is confirmed for 2021. The question now remains, when exactly will it come out?

We last left off on a bit of a cliffhanger for Otis (Asa Butterfield) and his budding relationship with Maeve (Emma Mackey), as their will-they, won’t-they status might actually be changing. In case you missed it, the final moments of Sex Education season 2 saw Otis coming to find Maeve to profess his true feelings, only to be met by Maeve’s neighbor Isaac (George Robinson). Isaac, of course, has a crush on Maeve, and instead of helping Otis out, he sabotages the grand plan.

Otis left a heartfelt voicemail on Maeve’s phone and even told her he loves her, but unfortunately, she’ll never get it. Out of jealousy, Isaac deleted the voicemail.

I’m still on the edge of my seat waiting on this story to continue, so let’s get into what the rumor mill is saying about the release of Sex Education season 3.

Sex Education season 3 release date

So, Netflix has confirmed the third season is coming in 2021. But what month? A rumor has been going around on Reddit, with many people believing that we’ll be getting new episodes in June or July of this year. This is not an official timeframe, but simply a prediction that stems from one Reddit post in particular.

Redditor agirlisastark has shared their theory for the Sex Education season 3 release date, getting their evidence by looking back at the promo, trailer, and premiere schedule for the previous season. If season 3 follows a similar timeline to season 2, according to the post, we should be seeing it drop on Netflix around mid-July.

Of course, this is only a prediction. It’s entirely plausible, but at the end of the day, this is not confirmed by Netflix.

As of right now, there doesn’t appear to be any big releases scheduled for July on the streaming service just yet. This month, we’ll be getting Lucifer season 5 part 2, in June we’ll be getting Elite season 4 and Too Hot to Handle season 2, and then in August, we’ll get The Kissing Booth 3. That certainly leaves room for Sex Education season 3 in July.
