Selena Quintanilla has been immortalized once again thanks to the Netflix original series based on the Queen of Tejano music’s life.

First premiering in 2020, Selena: The Series, starring Christian Serratos, has taken an in-depth look at the tragic icon’s legacy, going several steps further than the popular ’90s film starring Jennifer Lopez by the nature of a change in medium.

Part 1 of the series explored the beginning of Selena’s dream attached to her father’s ambition and the steady rise of her family’s band, Selena y Los Dinos. It focused on her becoming the woman fans would grow to adore and cherish as her music career flourished and her meteoric rise began its climb.

The second part of her story which lands on the platform today, May 4, will focus on the latter half of her young life as her status as a megastar in Tejano music begins to cement.

Selena: The Series ends with Part 2

With her increasing popularity came new opportunities and dreams like the launch of her own fashion boutique and branching out from the music she so dearly loved into acting.

Before her murder by Yolanda Saldívar, Selena’s future was so bright it was blinding. She was even looking forward to a family with her husband, Chris Pérez.

The 23-year-old had the world at her fingertips before it was stolen from her. Part 2 of her story moves through these events until her untimely death bringing the Netflix adaptation of her life to its natural conclusion.

Selena: The Series hasn’t been canceled, it’s simply ended. The show was billed as a two-part series putting it firmly in the category of a limited offer by the streamer.

However, the impact of the music icon’s legacy has not wavered in the decades since her death, so we doubt this series will be the last we see of Selena Quintanilla’s story immortalized in the halls of music history.
