I heard the rumors and rumblings that Shadow and Bone season 2 is already in the works, and I wanted to give a more formal nudge to renew the new Netflix original series for another season. The first season is SO GOOD. I need more, moRE, MORE!
I’ve been hoping to see Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse books adapted for TV so long. Admittedly, I was a little nervous when y’all announced the series. Sometimes, book adaptations fall flat. That’s clearly not the case with Shadow and Bone.
This is the best show of the year so far, in my opinion. I don’t think it could be better than it is!
Including Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Nina, and Matthias in the first season was an excellent decision. It opened up the world and introduced all to what’s beyond Ravka.
And, the casting choices could not have been better. Casting Director Suzanne Smith and the rest of the team absolutely crushed it!
Ben Barnes as The Darkling? Incredible.
Jessie Mei Li as Alina? Unforgettable.
Archie Reneaux as Mal? Outstanding.
Freddy Carter as Kaz? Nobody better.
Amita Suman as Inej? Perfect.
Kit Young as Jesper? Same person.
Danielle Galligan as Nina? So good.
Calahan Skogman as Matthias? Just, yes.
This is the best cast that could have been assembled; they’re the Grishaverse’s Avengers! After seeing them in Shadow and Bone, I will watch any shows or movies they’re in. I don’t even care what the movies and shows are about.
What I’m trying to say is, as a fan of the books, this show is even better than I hoped or could have imagined. The look and feel of the series! The cinematography! The visual effects! The story! All I can offer is a standing ovation for all involved.
As fans of the books, we know more or less what’s next, and I think we’re all ready for it. If Eric Heisserer and the creative team play it straight, I know what’s around the corner. I’m ready to be hurt, but I need Shadow and Bone season 2 (and even more seasons) for that to happen.
There’s a scene in one of your movies that applies here. You might remember it. It’s from To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Peter Kavinsky, played by Noah Centineo, meets up with Lara Jean Covey, played Lana Condor, and he lets her know that he’s ready to commit to their relationship, even if it ends in heartbreak.
“Break my heart, Covey,” Peter says. “Break my heart into a thousand pieces. Do whatever you want.”
I’m ready for the heartbreak, Netflix. Not the heartbreak of a GREAT series canceled after one season; I can’t live with that. I need a season 2, season 3, and probably a season 4 and season 5 to get there. And, that all starts with the season 2 renewal.
So, break my heart, Netflix. Break my heart into a thousand pieces… but it better be after you renew Shadow and Bone for season 2.Next: Best Netflix shows coming in 2021
