Is The Mosquito Coast on Netflix? image

The Mosquito Coast is a new drama series that premiered in April 2021 and has been flying below the radar since. Currently at a 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb, the Justin Theroux-led show is worth a look, but what do you need to know before you start watching?

We’ve pulled together all the specifics about the series here.

What is The Mosquito Coast about?

It’s obviously not about real mosquitoes; the series is based on the novel by Paul Theroux (who is Justin’s uncle!)

In the series, as in the book, a family has their entire life flipped upside down once they discover that there is more to their father than they realized. Now on the run, the family must struggle to stay together while also fighting to stay alive. The official synopsis is below:

A radical idealist uproots his family for Mexico after they suddenly finds themselves on the run from the U.S. government.

The cast of the action-packed show features Theroux as the aforementioned father Allie Fox, Melissa George as his wife Margot Fox, Logan Polish as their daughter Dina Fox, and Gabriel Bateman as son Charlie Fox.

Is The Mosquito Coast on Netflix?

Unfortunately, The Mosquito Coast is not available on Netflix at the moment. The series premiered on a different streaming platform (more on that below), so it’s also unclear when or if the show will ever make its way over to Netflix.

If we get more information about the show’s Netflix prospects, we’ll be sure to let you know, but we can definitely tell you where the series currently streams so you don’t have to wait.

Where can I watch The Mosquito Coast?

The Mosquito Coast is an Apple TV original and that’s the only place where you can watch the series currently. However, Apple TV often offers free trials, or even free sampling of a show’s first episodes, so you might be able to watch at least part of the show without signing up.

New episodes stream weekly and the program is currently on its fourth episode.

As the series is still relatively new, it may take a little more time before it is readily available on platforms outside of Apple TV, but we’ll update you if anything changes.

The Mosquito Coast is a great show, but if you don’t want to add another streaming service to your plate, feel free to check out similar Netflix series such as The Innocent, Wanted, or The Serpent.
