Is Castlevania canceled?

Is Castlevania canceled? image

Castlevania is back for a fourth season on Thursday, May 13, but will it be the show’s last? Will Trevor and Sypha be back again? Has the show been canceled, or will it be back for another season?

Sadly, the fourth season of the Netflix original series will be its last season. It was announced when the season 4 trailer came out that the show is coming to an end. No more snark from Trevor, no more magic from Sypha, and no more brooding from Alucard.

It doesn’t sound like the show was actually canceled per se, but it’s simply not continuing. There is news that Netflix is considering a new spin-off series set in the Castlevania universe, but beyond that, we don’t know much else. It will be interesting to see where they take the show and what other stories are told.

Castlevania explored the story of Dracula as well as Trevor Belmont, a vampire hunter, Alucard, Dracula’s son, and Sypha Belnades, a witch who can control the elements. In the first couple of seasons, we saw the trio fight against and defeat Dracula.

Castlevania ends after season 4

In season 3, Trevor and Sypha went out on their own to fight demons and those trying to harm the people of Lindenfield. Meanwhile, Alucard was alone in Dracula’s castle missing his friends and fearing he may be going insane.

Season 4 will lead Trevor and Sypha to their final battle and to a fight against Carmilla and her sisters as their plan to take over the world gets closer and closer to becoming real.

Castlevania stars the voices of Richard Armitage, James Callis, Alejandra Reynoso, Theo James, Adetokumboh M’Cormack, and Jaime Murray. It will be interesting to see if any of the cast members or their characters make it into the spin-off.

Whatever is next for the Castlevania universe, this series never disappointed. It sucks that it’s not coming back, but it’s better the creators stop while they’re ahead.
