Zombie fans, today is the day! Zack Snyder’s highly-anticipated film Army of the Dead is officially on Netflix, debuting on the streaming service a week after it hit select movie theaters. Based on reviews, its Rotten Tomatoes score, and fans taking to Twitter to chat about the new release, it looks like viewers are loving what they’ve seen. Army of the Dead marks Snyder’s first zombie film since 2004’s Dawn of the Dead, meaning horror lovers have had this movie on their watch list since it was announced all the way back in 2007.
For those of you who haven’t been able to check out Army of the Dead just yet, we won’t get into spoilers. But for people who have already watched the film and are craving more, let’s get into the possibility of a sequel. Is Army of the Dead 2 happening? There’s certainly a chance, as it looks like Zack Snyder would be on board.
Is Army of the Dead 2 happening?
As of the time of this article, a sequel for the zombie flick has not been announced. However, the 300 director recently spoke about the possibility, telling Screen Rant during a press junket interview that he’s hopeful for a second movie. Snyder said:
“I’m knocking on wood right here, but if there was an opportunity for a sequel, Shay [Hatten] and I know exactly what happens with that. We’ve done a long and hard look at where that movie would go, and it’s pretty crazy.”
It wouldn’t be unreasonable to think Snyder would continue on making zombie movies in the future. Some of the best zombie films out there are part of franchises, such as Night of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead, and 28 Days Later. Of course, The Walking Dead TV series has been going strong for over a decade, and has spawned spinoffs and even movies in the works.
Army of the Dead is certainly a hit, so we’d be happy to see a sequel follow it!Next: Who Killed Sara season 3 release date, cast, synopsis, trailer and more
