Cowboy Bebop is one hundred percent, without a doubt, one of the most popular Japanese Anime series ever created, and ever since news broke about Netflix embarking on creating a long-awaited live-action adaption, fans were more than excited to see the final product.
On June 6, 2017, something fans of the anime series have wanted as far back as anyone can remember came to be when the revelation that a live-action adaptation was in the works came to light. Then the streaming powerhouse known as Netflix made the announcement to the world the new Cowboy Bebop show will be calling Netflix its home. Christopher Yost, whose writing credits include The Mandalorian, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and a slew of exceptional comic series including New X-Men, X-Force, Scarlet Spider, and X-23: Target X. Shinichiro Watanabe, who is the director of the anime series, was later revealed to be involved in the live-action adaptation as a creative consultant.
The sci-fi western-style noir series takes place in the future around 2071 and follows the adventures of a crew of Bounty Hunters traveling aboard their spaceship called the Bebop. The enthralling and entertaining narrative, impressive visuals, exciting characters, and slick animation have made the entire affair a critically acclaimed sensation that has won a plethora of achievements, accolades, and awards.
There is no question that fans are eager to know everything they can about this upcoming project, and its no doubt that since the initial announcement, the anticipation for the premiere of the Cowboy Bebop live-action series on Netflix.
Cowboy Bebop release date
No release date has been officially put out for Cowboy Bebop right now, but there is some information out there regarding its premiere. The show was initially supposed to air in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic and a knee injury from the show’s star caused delays.
The series’ IMDb page indicates that Cowboy Bebop will release on Netflix sometime in 2021. If one had to guess, it would seem very likely that the show arrives sometime late in the year.

John Cho has been cast as Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pineda will portray Faye Valentine, and Alex Hassell will take on the role of Vicious in Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop show. Elaine Satine is cast as Julia. Mustafa Shakir plays Jet Black on the show.
Geoff Stults Tamara Tunie, Mason Alexander Park Rachel house, Ann Truong, and Hoa Xuende are joining the cast of the Cowboy Bebop live-action series as well to play Chalmers, Ana, Gren, Mao, Shin, and Lin.
Cowboy Bebop synopsis
The anime series on which the Cowboy Bebop series at Netflix is based follows a crew of intergalactic Bounty Hunters. Spike is a Bounty Hunter, and he was born on the red planet Mars and has a history involving a significant amount of gang activity. Jet Black is Spike’s Ex-cop bounty hunter partner with a cybernetic arm.
Rounding out the rest of Cowboy Bebop’s players is Faye Valentine, a gambling addict in debt who spent 54 years in suspended animation. There is also Radical Ed, a hacker prodigy, and Ein, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Other characters of interest are Spike’s former partner and nemesis Vicious, a power-hungry gangster from the illegal entity the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate.

Cowboy Bebop trailer
No official trailer for Cowboy Bebop has come out yet, and it will be interesting to see when the first preview will arrive. Production on the Netflix series ended on March 15, 2021, and if it is supposed to release at some point this year, it shouldn’t be much longer for the first teaser to arrive.
The only video marketing that has been released by Netflix was a Behind the Scenes featurette in 2019 that was shot in Corgi vision. You can check it out below:
