Thanksgiving looked a little different this year, because, for the first time in ages, the fighting wasn’t over politics or who had to sit on the card table chair with the wonky leg (at least not more than usual). Mostly the biggest fight was whether you would be having a safe CDC-approved celebration at home, or whether you were going to gather at Aunt Janet’s house three states away and swap airborne germs in the dining room with your relatives. That second option might end up putting a whole lot of grandpas and grandmas on ventilators so naturally there’s been some side-eyeing of people who threw huge family gatherings on turkey day. Like Cardi B, who hosted more than three dozen people at her place, despite being told by health professionals to not do that. Well, guess what, Cardi is now sorry for doing that.

I’m not sure at which point between March and now that Cardi made the transition from “Coronavirus! Shit is real!” to “Please try to wash your hands before you enjoy the super spread I’ve prepared for you all.” But she clearly wasn’t too worried about socializing when she invited her family over for Thanksgiving. And she really wasn’t too worried about keeping it a secret, as you can see from this tweet she sent out yesterday:

The internet had some thoughts about Cardi’s choice to host a big Thanksgiving dinner, with many people pointing out that it was wrong of her to go against CDC pandemic suggestions, and that it was unfair she gets to have a big family shindig while many were isolating at home. It wasn’t long before Cardi apologized for her choice. She also tried to reason that it wasn’t that bad because everyone got tested beforehand (Cardi has made it known previously that she’s a big supporter of everyone getting tested). And to be fair, what could she possibly have been exposed to that she hadn’t already been exposed to during her massive birthday party last month, right?

If you value your sanity, please do not venture into the mentions of her first tweet. There are many point-missers who are exposing themselves as types who throw big family Thanksgiving parties.

Only time (and tests) will tell if guests at Cardi’s Thanksgiving were served a side of corona. But I’m sure that some people definitely felt awkward accepting Cardi’s Thanksgiving invitation. COVID rules or not, do you really want to be there when Cardi inevitably grabs her husband Offset’s phone and asks why he’s volunteered to stuff someone else’s turkey.
