Army of the Dead has officially hit Netflix today, and fans of the horror-action genre are likely counting down the minutes until they’re off work and can stream the new movie. The highly-anticipated flick marks director Zack Snyder’s latest zombie project following 2004’s Dawn of the Dead. That means it’s been 17 years since we last saw the popular filmmaker helm an adventure about the undead, and we cannot wait to see what he’s got in store for us this time.
The movie certainly has had a ton of hype surrounding it, and was actually released in select theaters last week on May 14. That means reviews have been pouring in for days now, and so far, Army of the Dead still looks extremely promising. Tech Radar even called it Zack Snyder’s “best movie yet,” which means a whole lot when looking at his impressive resume.
So if you’re planning to check out Army of the Dead today or this weekend but need to know if the children in your house can watch along, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything you should know about the film’s age rating.
Is Army of the Dead okay for kids to watch?
Army of the Dead has an official age rating of R. That technically means that anyone under the age of 17 should have a parent or guardian present while watching. Of course, it’s up to the adult’s discretion to determine what they believe the child in their life can or cannot watch.
According to IMDb, the movie is rated R for “strong bloody violence, gore and language throughout, some sexual content and brief nudity/graphic nudity.” It looks like the foul language and violent scenes are mostly to blame for this rating, and from the Parental Guide on IMDb alone, it doesn’t seem Army of the Dead is suitable for kids whatsoever.
