Zack Snyder’s second-best zombie film Army of the Dead has finally arrived, topping the charts on Netflix, and many subscribers are wondering if there will be an Army of the Dead 2 coming at some point down the line. Like most potential sequels, many are eager to know everything they can about this possible follow-up feature.

Snyder put himself on the map with his incredibly well-crafted remake of Dawn of the Dead before making other great films like 300, Sucker Punch, and arguably the greatest live-action Superman film Man of Steel. Now after coming off of the long-awaited Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Army of the Dead for Netflix is Snyder’s first project in a while that doesn’t involve the now-defunct Snyderverse.

After a short run in theaters and becoming the best theatrical opening for a film from the streaming powerhouse, Netflix’s Army of the Dead arrived on the platform on May 21. The movie follows a group of individuals breaking into a quarantined Las Vegas which zombies have taken over in order to steal $200 million from a casino. The epic movie is unfortunately much longer than it needs to be but in the end, it is a solid endeavor for fans of the genre and the undead.

The film has a large cast, including Raul Castillo, Ana de la Reguera, Omari Hardwick, Dave Bautista, and Tig Notaro. Spoiler alert: None of the main cast survives, so if Army of the Dead 2 were to release, it would need a whole new cast. As of right now, there have been no official plans for a sequel. In September 2020, a prequel called Army of Thieves and an anime-style series titled Army of the Dad: Lost Vegas were both announced, however.

Army of the Dead 2 release date

Since there has been no kind of announcement that has come out regarding a sequel to Army of the Dead, fans should know that there isn’t any release date for another film yet. If another chapter was to occur, it would be safe to assume the film could arrive sometime in 2022, but it would probably be safe to expect another feature in the series to arrive in 2023. Of course, this is all just speculation at this time.

Army of the Dead 2 cast

As mentioned before, nearly everyone dies in the film, so there wouldn’t be many characters involved in Army of the Dead 2. The next chapter would have to bring in a whole new cast, and it would be interesting to see who they’d choose to fill out the roster if Netflix does decide to keep the franchise going.

Army of the Dead 2 synopsis

There has been no kind of official announcement regarding what the synopsis will entail for Army of the Dead 2, and until Netflix confirms an actual sequel, fans should be very patient on receiving any kind of plot details at this point. But considering what went down during the final moments of the first film, it’s safe to assume what could happen next time around.

Vanderohe appears to have survived the nuclear blast inside the vault Kingdom of the Crystal Skull-style and somehow received no radiation poisoning in his journey from the recently nuked Vegas to the private airport in Utah with a massive amount of cash. Sadly, he realizes he has been bitten, and for whatever reason, it takes much longer than everyone else for his symptoms to show.

The plane he was on was heading to Mexico City, so there could be a storyline where they have to rob a bank south of the border or maybe steal a Cartel’s fortune during the outbreak. Whatever does happen, hopefully, the runtime is shorter, and the dialogue is a bit sharper in Army of the Dead 2.

Army of the Dead 2 trailer

There is no trailer for Army of the Dead 2 yet, and until more information comes out about another film in Netflix’s zombie franchise, fans shouldn’t expect any new footage. As soon as a teaser for the potential next chapter arrives, we will be sure to share it with everyone.
