A second video has surfaced showing victims of the recent mass abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, this time featuring a nursing mother tearfully appealing for help and the safety of her child.
In the footage, the woman, identified as a staff member of First Baptist Church School, Ogbomosho, is seen emotionally calling on the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and President Bola Tinubu to intervene urgently.
Clutching her baby as she spoke, she narrated how armed men invaded the school premises and abducted teachers and students during the attack.
“I am Temitope, I am from Ibadan, I am working at First Baptist Church, Ogbomosho. Yesterday, the people came to our school and kidnapped both staff and students. First Baptist Church, we need your help so they will release us. President Tinubu, help us. Our State Government, Engr Seyi Makinde, we need your help,” she said, her voice breaking.
The new video comes shortly after an earlier recording from Mrs Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, who had also appealed for urgent intervention following the abduction of seven teachers and 39 pupils last Friday.
In her message, she called on the Federal Government, Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Christian Association of Nigeria to help secure the release of the victims.
Security agencies have confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing, with police and military units deployed to track the abductors through forest routes around the Old Oyo National Park.
Earlier reports also indicated that during the initial attack, an assistant headmaster, Joel Adesiyan, was shot dead, while several motorcycles were taken away by the assailants as they fled the scene.
