In a strategic initiative aimed at transforming agriculture and addressing food insecurity, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has launched a Joint Agricultural Intervention Project and inaugurated seventeen farm managers, with one representing each Local Government Area (LGA) in the state.

The agricultural initiatives encompass pig farming, feed milling, maggot farming, as well as ginger and cassava processing plants, poultry farms, pepper farming, and processing, among other activities.

During the project launch in Umuahia, Governor Otti urged the farm managers to demonstrate commitment, focus, and resilience in fulfilling their assigned tasks.

Governor Otti, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Uzor Nwachukwu, stated that with this inauguration, Abia is entering a new phase of agricultural intervention.

“Our message to the farm managers inaugurated today is that we are entering a new chapter in agricultural intervention in the Southeast, beginning with Abia State.

“We believe this will mark a significant turning point in the agricultural revolution within our state, enhancing food security and boosting the economy of Abia and its citizens,” he remarked.

He emphasized that the project is spearheaded by the local government, in partnership with the state government, to ensure its success because “we are all one people.”

In response, on behalf of the newly inaugurated seventeen farm managers, Mrs. Glory Nwaogbe pledged to meet expectations, assuring that they would not let down the Abia State government or its people.
