Ahead of Easter celebrations, the Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has approved the mobilisation of over 57,000 officers.
ACC Afolabi Babawale, National Public Relations Officer, NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, said in a statement on Thursday that the deployment, which includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives, is designed to fortify national security and guarantee a peaceful holiday period for all citizens.
According to the statement, the strategic operation spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, serving as a proactive measure to address potential security threats while ensuring the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
“Under the CG’s explicit instructions, all zonal commanders, state commandants, and provosts of colleges have been tasked with overseeing comprehensive security in their jurisdictions.
“High-traffic areas including churches, shopping complexes, parks, and recreational centres will be under strict surveillance by both visible patrols and undercover agents to preemptively strike against any criminal elements,” the statement said.
It further underscored the importance of heightened vigilance and seamless coordination with other security agencies.
“Our goal is a seamless and secure Easter season. We are working hand-in-hand with sister agencies to maintain order. I also urge parents and guardians to guide their children properly, ensuring they are not manipulated into engaging in activities that could disrupt public peace.” Audi said, according to the statement.
NSCDC elite divisions, such as the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and Crack Squad, have been placed on maximum alert.
The statement added that the specialised teams are prepared to act decisively against any individual or group attempting to undermine the stability of the nation.
Audi encouraged the general public to remain alert, support security efforts, and promptly report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest NSCDC post or security formation.
