The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared that there will be no turning back on its planned nationwide protest set for December 17, aimed at addressing the surge of insecurity facing the nation.

Joe Ajaero, the National President of the union, made this declaration shortly after a courtesy visit to Inuwa Yahaya, the Chairman of the nineteen Northern States Governors’ Forum and the Governor of Gombe State.

Ajaero emphasized that the protest seeks to urge the government to take decisive action against insecurity, highlighting that this issue now affects every Nigerian, irrespective of their status or occupation.

He noted that banditry and violent crimes are foreign to Nigeria’s culture and must be universally condemned to change what he called a perilous national narrative.

The NLC leader further mentioned that insecurity is detrimental to the economy and undermines Nigeria’s capacity to attract both local and foreign investors.

According to DAILY POST, the NLC had announced on December 8 its intention to conduct a nationwide protest regarding the insecurity in the country.

“We completely condemn the kidnapping and murder of school staff during the Kebbi school attack and the withdrawal of security personnel from the affected school prior to the incident,” he stated.

“The increase in attacks on schools is alarming. We urge the Federal Government to ensure the security of all schools, especially those located in remote and vulnerable regions,” he added.
