The Federal Government has declared a prohibition on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School 3 at both public and private secondary schools across Nigeria.

This directive was announced by the Federal Ministry of Education on Sunday and was signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Boriowo stated that this decision was driven by “increasing concerns regarding the rising prevalence of examination malpractice, including the use of so-called special centres during external examinations.”

The statement further noted that such actions “compromise the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s education system.”

As per the ministry, this directive will come into effect starting from the 2026/2027 academic session. Admissions and transfers are now limited to SS1 and SS2 classes.

The statement underscored that, “Admission or transfer into SS3 will no longer be allowed under any circumstances.”
