The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has assigned three Deputy Commissioners of Police to each of the three senatorial districts to supervise election security for the upcoming Local Government Councils elections on November 1st.
The CP announced this in a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna.

He mentioned that this deployment is part of a broader initiative, which includes mobilizing various police units and other security agencies to secure all 4,950 polling units and 274 wards across the state’s 25 Local Government Areas.
Elleman further revealed that this effort is complemented by a significant deployment of police personnel and operational assets, including tactical teams such as the 12pmf, 61pmf, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), EOD-CBRN, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Tactical Support Team (TST), Crack Squad, and Anti-Kidnapping Unit, along with other security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to ensure comprehensive security coverage throughout the state.

As a result, he indicated that an Operation Order for election duty has been disseminated to all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and DPOs, outlining their specific responsibilities, particularly to escort and safeguard both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, and to create a conducive environment for eligible voters to exercise their rights.
According to him, "We want to reiterate the Command’s readiness to ensure adequate security for a peaceful and credible election.

“We urge all political parties to adhere to the rules. We also caution youths or anyone who might attempt to create disturbances that security agencies will not hesitate to take action against such individuals.”
The CP added that enforcement of vehicular movement restrictions will also take effect from 6 AM to 6 PM on election day, except for officials on essential duties.
