Developers have confirmed the location of the first 300 for the Otterpool Park, with construction scheduled for 2029.

At a public exhibition in Sellindge last week, the opening phase of the development was chosen to be centred on land near Westenhanger railway station.

The mega town, near Hythe on the Kent coast, will eventually deliver up to 10,000 homes.

Plans also include five parks, , , shops, healthcare facilities, and space.

Around half of the entire development will remain green space, with residents benefiting from open countryside, wetlands and landscaped public areas.

Developers also want to create an extensive network of and walking trails linking neighbourhoods with the town centre, schools and railway station.

The site sits close to the seaside town of Hythe and has direct access to the M20 and Westenhanger railway station, providing links to London, the Channel Tunnel and the Port of Dover.

Preparatory work is now expected to get underway in 2028, with the council aiming to start building roads, utility connections and other infrastructure.

The project received another boost earlier this year after Kent County Council approved plans for a new wastewater treatment works, which will provide essential services for the thousands of homes planned at Otterpool Park.
