The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has responded to the allegation of illegal abduction from a Delta State orphanage home.
DAILY POST reports that Stanley Ontop, a Nollywood actor and activist, had called out NAPTIP over an alleged illegal raid in Asaba, Delta State, on June 15th, 2025.
The actor accused the agency of Home in Asaba to Nasarawa Orphanage Home in Kano State, and converting them to Muslims after changing their names.
However, reacting to the viral report in an Instagram post, NAPTIP insisted that the eight children were rescued and not kidnapped.
NAPTIP further claimed that the children were stolen from Kano and other northern states between 2017 and 2022.
“The children were stolen from Kano and other States in the North to the South-South by a wanted inter state child trafficking syndicate.
“We’re worried over unhealthy activities of some orphanages and care homes in Nigeria. The successful operation was carried out with the support of the Operatives of the Department of the State Service, DSS, Anambra State Command, and Men of the Nigerian Police, Delta State Command, with the technical support of the Kano State Government through the State Ministry of Women Affairs, organized Civil Society Organization in Kano State.
“In 2017, some parents in Kano and other States in the Region raised alarm on the unwholesome activities of some syndicates who move from one Community to another, luring children mostly betwen ages of 2 to 10 years and trafficking them to other parts of the Country.
“The incident climaxed in 2022 as another set of over 25 children were trafficked out of the region by the same suspected,” NAPTIP said.
