The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has celebrated the graduation of 1,296 recruits during the Passing Out Parade of Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 45/2025, which took place on 20 December 2025. This event marks their official transition from civilian life to becoming trained airmen and airwomen of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
During the parade, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, referred to the ceremony as “a significant milestone for both the graduates and the Service.” He emphasized that the operational effectiveness of the NAF is fundamentally based on the quality, discipline, and professionalism of its personnel.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, stated that the CAS highlighted that the successful completion of the six-month training program aligns perfectly with his Command Philosophy aimed at enhancing and sustaining a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force. This force is capable of delivering decisive air power in conjunction with surface forces to achieve national security objectives.
He stressed that this graduation signifies the NAF’s intentional and practical efforts to develop capable manpower in fulfillment of its constitutional mandate, especially in support of ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations across the nation.
Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the strategic significance of the Military Training Centre, describing it as the foundation of military excellence within the Nigerian Air Force, essential for developing disciplined, professional, and mission-ready personnel.
He noted that the institution is a vital component of the Command Philosophy, enabling standardized training and mission-focused capability development. He commended the Commandant, instructors, and staff for maintaining high standards throughout the course.
According to him, the discipline enforced during training translates directly into professionalism and operational effectiveness in the field.
He also praised the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Shinkafi, for his guidance over the institution.
In addressing the graduating recruits, the CAS acknowledged that the rigorous nature of the training—physically, mentally, and collectively—was intentional and essential for preparing them for the realities of military service.
He reminded them that their transformation from civilians to members of the Armed Forces was achieved through a structured and intensive program, expressing gratitude to their families and loved ones for the support that contributed to their success.
He urged the new airmen and airwomen to consistently uphold discipline, teamwork, and duty throughout their careers.
The CAS further reminded the graduates that they are joining the Service during a time of complex security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, and other asymmetric threats.
