A MYSTERIOUS vigilante has been dubbed Mexican Batman after chasing down alleged motorbike thieves and duct taping them to lampposts.

At least five men accused of theft have been found taped to lampposts in the city in the past ten days, local reports said.
Photos show the alleged thieves strapped to street poles with huge amounts of tape, left with no chance of escape.
Several had “ratero” scrawled across their forehead in marker pen, meaning thief.
Mexican also drew moustaches and cat whiskers on the men.
The vigilante left large signs accusing them of stealing , with the bikes left nearby to illustrate the men’s alleged crimes.

The first known case was on June 13, when a young man was found tied to a post, left with a cardboard sign accusing him of being a thief.
In the following days, more men were found taped up, seemingly by the same perpetrator, who left alleged thieves in similar states in the street.
State Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández said a total of five cases have been reported, with cops hot on Mexican Batman’s trail.
He added that though no suspects have yet been arrested, police have identified two vehicles that they think are connected to the incidents.
The men left tied up were treated for their injuries.
Investigators are considering whether Mexican Batman is one wannabe-superhero, or an organised group.

It comes after female vigilantes patrolled the nearby state of Michocoán carrying assault rifles to protect themselves from the bloodthirsty Jalisco New Generation cartel.
