THIS is the brutal moment a motorbike gang leader is rammed by police after a tense high-speed chase through a busy city.

One biker was arrested on suspicion of dangerous after taking cops on a wild goose chase across , , on Sunday.

Shocking footage shows nine vehicles – including and quadbikes – straddling all three lanes in the York Road area.

The yobs were caught on camera appearing to dangerously weave through stationary traffic.

They narrowly avoiding pedestrians as they went through red lights.

Aerial units spotted the gang and captured them mounting pavements while heading towards the Halton Moor and Temple Newsam area.

Cops on motorbikes can then be seen pursuing the bikers as they dangerously scatter in different directions at a busy junction.

The officer eventually catches up with the fleeing group, while sirens can be heard in the background.

Moments later, the pursuit then continues down an alleyway in nearby Chapeltown, before one of the bikers reaches a dead end.

The copper then rams the bike, sending the rider flying to the floor.

confirmed a 27-year-old man was arrested following the subsequent foot chase.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences including dangerous driving.

He has since been released on bail, cops confirmed.

Chief Inspector James Farrar, head of the Roads Policing Unit, hailed the “robust action” used to tackle the gang.

He said: “We know that the anti-social and criminal use of off-road bikes is a big concern in our communities and that the public support us in taking firm action to tackle it.

“Dealing with such antisocial behaviour and denying criminals the use of the road remains one of our top priorities and it’s why we’ve invested in the specialist equipment to allow us the capability to do so.

“It also forms part of our Vision Zero ambitions to reduce the numbers of serious and fatal injury collisions on our roads.

“With the support of NPAS there is nowhere to hide and, as this incident shows, we will take robust action to stop these vehicles where it is safe and proportionate to do so.”
