Or, more likely, not.
Marvel is rebooting both the X-Men and Fantastic Four , with new actors in the iconic roles . Just one guy survived the cull; Ryan Reynolds , who will continue to play Wade Wilson, aka the merc with a mouth, aka Deadpool, in the MCU. Deadpool already had two solo adventures back when the rights to the character belonged to 20th Century Fox, but the events of those movies are likely to be scrubbed when the character enters the MCU.
According to the folks at We Got This Covered , sources are saying Reynolds’ character will undergo a soft reboot, enabling Marvel to more tidily fit him into their own sprawling on-screen mythos without worrying confusing the casual viewer.
But just because nobody else in the MCU is aware of the character’s on-screen history, doesn’t mean he won’t be. After all, Deadpool has a history of breaking the fourth wall and cracking wise about the convoluted, contradictory continuity of comic book movies, like the time he queried whether the Professor X in his movie was the one played by Sir Patrick Stewart, or by James McAvoy. So fans of the first two Deadpool films can probably expect at least one knowing reference when Deadpool finally makes an appearance in the MCU.
