Mark Wahlberg is used to packing on the protein with up to eight meaty meals a day, but now he’s switched to plant-based, he’s feeling pretty good.

The 48-year-old wasn’t feeling too healthy after wrapping new movie Spenser Confidential, and decided that he would switch up his diet.

Speaking to Men’s Health for their vs The Internet series, the Boogie Nights actor explained that during filming, he’d been eating eight meals a day, consisting of ‘chicken, fish, steak, pork’, and sometimes even two steaks a day – but towards the end of filming, he developed a ‘leaky gut’.

We need no more information than that.

Mark said: ‘I did a bone broth fast and I’ve been eating just plant-based for about three weeks now, and I gotta tell you—I feel really good.’

The plant-based diet is apparently helping Wahlberg reduce inflammation and recover from those infamous 4am workouts.

Although, Mark insists that his now-notorious daily schedule doesn’t actually occur, well, daily.

Back in 2018, the actor shared his daily routine which saw him waking at 2.30am, before having breakfast, a prayer session, workout, a shower, a round of golf and a snack before his actual day begins.

Mark said of the routine: ‘People don’t understand, I don’t do this every single day. If I wake up at 2.30 in the morning, there’s a good chance I went to bed at 6.30. It’s just based on what I’m doing for work and the schedule I have to keep.

‘So if I have my prayer time, exercise, reading, doing all of that stuff, then want to be able to then wake up my kids from school, get them going, get them off for the rest of the day, then I start early.’

But one thing has been ditched for good – and that’s the golf.

He said: ‘I’ve given up golf. I realised it’s just too much between family and work and trying to squeeze golf in.’

More: Vegan

Unfortunately for Mark, his country club doesn’t really care about his schedule, as he still has to maintain the pricey membership fees.

Let’s hope they provide a vegan lunch…
