‘I’d never even heard of him’ – Cristiano Ronaldo slams Man Utd’s Ralf Rangnick appointment and says he’s ‘not a coach’

CRISTIANO RONALDO has slammed Manchester United’s appointment of Ralf Rangnick and claims “I’ve never even heard of him”.

The wantaway star has given an explosive interview to Piers Morgan where he criticised former managers, teammates and attacked the club’s culture.

Ronaldo was not happy with the interim appointment of Ralf Rangnick

The 37-year-old has been at war with his club since the summer after failing to secure a move away from Old Trafford.

Since then there have been regular flashpoints of tension as Ronaldo clashed with boss Erik ten Hag.

But nothing comes even close in comparison to this interview as the frustrated former Real Madrid forward put it all on the table.

He claimed he did not respect ten Hag and was perhaps even more cutting when he spoke about his predecessor Rangnick.

The Austrian arrived to steady the ship a year ago after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But his arrival did little to revive the club’s form or heal internal tensions.

On the 64-year-old’s appointment, Ronaldo said: “If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United

“I’d never even heard of him.”

Rangnick was initially supposed to stay at the club after his interim spell on a longer period doing some consultancy work.

But the role was scrapped after United’s calamitous end to last season.

Rangnick’s arrival at Old Trafford came after a career where the biggest clubs he had managed were German sides Schalke, Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.

But the boss is credited with influencing the careers of the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp and played an integral role in the building of Red Bull’s football clubs.

He took over from Solskjaer in November with the club seventh in the table, 12 points off the lead.

United ended the season a place higher in sixth, but with their lowest-ever Premier League points total and a whopping 35 points off champions Manchester City.

Rangnick was just one of many people who faced Ronaldo’s ire.

The star also had verbal fire for former teammate Wayne Rooney and he blasted people within the club’s hierarchy who “betrayed” him.
