Manchester United midfielder, Christian Eriksen, has said that it is an ‘honour’ to be compared to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, after a strong start to his time at Old Trafford.
Eriksen, who said that he played against Scholes in the past, arrived at Man United on a free transfer from Brentford in the summer.
The Denmark international signed a contract until June 2025.
The move saw Eriksen reunite with Man United boss Erik ten Hag, who helped facilitate his return from the cardiac arrest he suffered at Euro 2020 by inviting him to train with Ajax during his rehabilitation.
Eriksen has started in every single game under Ten Hag so far this season, registering two assists.
“It’s football in a nutshell and shows how fast it is,” Eriksen told Politiken.
“Of course, it is great to be compared to them, but you create your own ways and your own name. I was lucky that I managed to play against Paul Scholes. He was a good player, so I’m happy to be compared to him.”
