Barcelona captain, Jordi Alba has said that he feels sorry for retiring team-mate, Gerard Pique.
Pique retired from football on Saturdays. The legendary former Spain international ended his career with Barcelona in the 82nd minute of their 2-0 victory in La Liga on Saturday.
Alba said the decision by his former club and national teammate came as surprise.
Pique announced on Thursday that yesterday’s game will be his last for the Catalans.
Alba, who took over the captain band, told reporters, “I feel sorry. Iâm grateful for everything heâs given to all of us.
“Heâs done a lot for the club. In the end, itâs a shame. His absence will be noticed. Not only in football, but in human terms. It is the law of life.
“He has left his soul in every game. Itâs a shame.”
